The RIMS Suite
Based on our extensive experience in the industry and developed in close relationship with our customers, the Ridership Information Management System (RIMS) makes it easy for you to analyse your ridership numbers.
The suite offers a comprehensive system with facilities in the following areas:
Whatever the source of the numbers, it’s all the same to the RIMS analysis package. With many years in development and honed to our customers’ needs, it allows you to cut the numbers at will. Some of the features are:
Load Displays for Route Services - The average load is displayed over all the records for any chosen time period, and is highlighted if the number of passengers exceeds the number of seats.
Full Load Displays for Individual Services - A full display of loads from each station, with numeric and/or graphical displays available.
Overloaded Service Calculation for DfT - The calculation that is used against the agreed criteria of whether services are overloaded.
Service Loads for Single Stations - The details of all service loads, irrespective of route line, with a choice of statistical analysis.
When you sign up for RIMS, you are not just getting a powerful suite of programs which will make life easier, you are getting our commitment to provide quality service. We promise that, for the duration of the contract, we will provide most software enhancements absolutely free. For instance, if you upgrade your Windows® operating system, we will make sure RIMS is compatible.
If you find, despite the many features in RIMS to easily access key numbers, you need an additional facility, we will supply it for free, with the provision that we can make the enhancement available to all RIMS users.
RIMS is a comprehensive database which holds your manually collected data, including numbers recorded by ticket issuing machines.
RIMS can handle data from all on-train counting systems that are in use or on order for use in the UK; we maintain close links with system manufacturers to ensure a seamless service for our customers.
Data Retrieval & Checking
To ensure that only the data of the highest standard are provided, we monitor the equipment for quality and immediately take corrective action in the event of any inaccuracies being detected. Allocating the data against services in the timetable demands skill and care in order to avoid wrong identification and our knowledge and experience ensures the best possible outcome.
Clean data is passed to our customers by a synchronisation process at frequent intervals, via a VPN link.
Help
RIMS comes complete with a comprehensive Help file, written from the users’ perspective, to help you easily find your way around the many features of RIMS. Context-sensitive help is also provided.
Please note that we appreciate any feedback concerning the Help file‘s effectiveness, so that we can continue to improve it.
Support
To ensure that you get off to a flying start, we provide up to two days of on-site training upon the first installation of RIMS. We also provide a telephone and email helpline during normal office hours, so that support is never far away.
